Step by Step Guide for CSS (Beginners)
✨Step 1 - Research or ask a senior about the 12 different departments of the service and write down their pros and cons. Decide which one is the best for you. I will also be making posts about each occupational group in the coming days so you can stay tuned for that. (This is an extremely important step and I say this from experience because I have seen people suffering so much and taking more attempts just because they chose the wrong group for themselves.)
✨Step 2 - Make up your mind for the
bumpy ride to CSS. This is the most
important step because if you are not
mentally prepared to go through the
highs and lows of the prep, you will
give up halfway. The best way to stay motivated is to keep the end result in mind. If you have the destination in mind, your journey will become easier inshAllah.
✨ Step 3 - Optional Subjects Selection
This is one of the most important steps because it can make or break you. If you select the subjects that interest you, you will do great but if you choose subjects just because an academy suggested it, you are on the road to ruin.
Note: To select optionals, check out my post on Selection of Optionals and Past Papers Analysis for detailed guidance.
✨ Step 4 - Notes making - you need to make long notes and then short notes. If you don’t know how to make notes for CSS, check out my post on making notes.
✨ Step 5 - Memorize and revise!
The very next step is memorizing the notes that you have made. Do you want me to share tips on memorizing? Share your thoughts in the comments on my post.
✨ Step 6 - Writing Practice and Time Management
One of the most common reasons for failing this exam is the lack of writing practice and time management so never ignore this step. Trust me, I used to suffer a lot in time management during my mock exams so the best advice that I can give you is to practice a question from past papers everyday (while timing yourself).
✨Step 7 - Take Mocks
When you take mock exams, it
prepares you well for the actual exam
by putting you through the process
once. You can also find out your weak
areas and work on them after the
mocks.
✨ Step 8 - Take the MPT and then the full fledge exams.
What's next after you pass the exams? How to prepare for MPT?
To find that out, check out the next post!
